Sammer Elias has spent the majority of the last 12 years absorbed in the natural world.
His passions for his personal life and for his professional life are much the same.
Sammer divides his time in his career with; captaining sailing expeditions while teaching
personal growth and character development to students of all ages and walks of life;
teaching outdoor leadership, team leadership, and community leadership; and teaching
the technical skills of water-based activities including sailing, navigation, river
rescue, and whitewater paddling. When not leading or teaching, in his personal time
Sammer is focused on his passions of whitewater paddling, ocean sailing, surfing in
Latin America, and being with people of foreign cultures. However, above all, are
family and friends.
When it comes to whitewater canoeing, Sammer has been pushing the boundaries of the sport
in the western U.S. for several years. Though having paddled many rivers that have
earned him a first canoe descent (many he was not aware of until much later), Sammer
paddles for himself. You can often find him on his daily evening excursion, paddling
alone on a challenging river.
Pursuing a life of adventure, great experiences, joy and meaning... Sammer is very
happy with life. He has a deep connection to water, and always enjoys sharing readings
and quotes with friends.
